“It’s not a funnel. It’s just a mattress on top of a bunch of ice cream cones.”
That’s what my friend (and SEO strategist) Adrienne Kmetz said while we were chatting on Zoom the other day.
My surrealist loving, art teacher heart skipped a beat because I love that idea - and I couldn’t wait to make a graphic for the email I knew I would end up writing about it.
We all have this idea that our “FUNNEL” is just one big giant funnel in the sky. And that puts a crap ton of pressure on that one funnel.
Don’t screw it up or your business will definitely fail.
Or people say things like, “I just need to fix my funnel.” Like it’s just one thing.
But the truth is you have lots of funnels and that’s actually ideal.
Since Adrienne is all about websites and SEO she talks about building a big web on the internet of your stuff. 🕸️
This leads to that ▶️ Then that leads to this. 🔽
Then this leads back to this. 🔼
And then back around to something else. ◀️
It’s not ONE BIG funnel.
It’s not a beer bong. 😂
That doesn’t mean now you make a million opt-ins and tiny funnels. Definitely don’t do that. 🙅♀️
It means that you can write a blog that leads to an opt-in. That’s one 🍦.
You can write emails like this that hopefully get people to think about content differently and make them want to join your membership. That’s another 🍦.
Or you have a cool idea to do free 30 minute marketing maps to spend more time with actual humans and less time making content in your office by yourself. That’s a third 🍦.
And your whole presence online is that big soft comfy mattress.
I hope that puts a little less pressure on the whole idea of building a solid beer bong… I mean funnel in your business.
Everything you do should relate to your offers in some way, but it doesn’t have to be as massive as you might think.
